BUSINESS BIO:
For over 25 years, industry veteran Lou Mastantuono has showcased his numerous talents, literally within every segment of entertainment. As a producer, actor, vocalist and songwriter, his work has been featured on records, in film, on television and stage. He has garnered the accolades of critics and the respect of his peers with his sheer talent, tenacious will and unbridled passion for show business.

Born and raised on Long Island, NY, Lou has always shared a love for sports and the performing arts since childhood. As a St. John’s University alumnus, where he was a star ball player, Lou was on track for a professional career in baseball when he was sidelined by a career ending shoulder injury. With no clear direction he turned his attention back to his first love — singing.

In 1984 he joined Atlantic recording group Act of Mercy as their lead singer. After the group disbanded, Lou continued writing and producing material for other artists and on film soundtracks, even collaborating with Academy Award winning songwriter Michael Sembello (Flashdance) and notable producer Rick Tarbox (All Night Passion).

Then in 1993, the acting bug bit when he was cast in the film Amongst Friends. Which, by the way, he also wrote and performed one of the songs on the soundtrack entitled Confusion. That film officially launched his professional acting career which later went on to include small roles in various TV productions and successful runs in several off- Broadway shows; including, View From A Bridge, Wounded Heart Mission and the highly publicized Asterisk. Most recently Lou has been cast in the Fox Television series NY- 70, which is slated for a Fall ‘09 release.

In recent years, Lou has focused his attention on production and as an accomplished Broadway Producer he premiered the New York production of SQUONK at The Helen Hayes Theater and brought the dance spectacular Rewind, featuring champion break dance team The Knucklehead Zoo, to The New Victory Theater in 2008. He also has a series in development with the dance crew for MW.

While Lou continues to develop and produce new projects for stage and TV, he is now personally dedicating most of his time to producing the upcoming feature film More Than You Know, based on the true story of his family’s legacy. The film’s script has gained much industry attention, even being voted “Best Script” by the prestigious Independent Film Project (IFP) at the 2007 Independent Film Week.

When asked how he defines success, Lou responds with a coy grin, “Success is like a ladder. You don’t define the climb by whether or not you reach the top, but it’s the climb itself, each individual step, that defines your success... hopefully.” And with that astute perception, and dogged determination, Lou Mastantuono continues to build upon his thriving career, resetting the rungs on his ever-expanding ladder with each “success” along the way.
