BUSINESS BIO:
Michael Jack Shoel is a film producer and is the founder and President of Ariztical Entertainment, an independent film distribution company with an over 25 year history and a catalog of more than 100 films.

Michael’s strength and style is as a creative collaborator, bridging and blending artistic and business sensibilities. Michael has successfully developed and expanded a worldwide network of writers, producers, directors, designers, distributors, theaters, broadcasters, retail stores and festivals that have collectively broadened the audience for the work of a wide range of independent film artists.

Although a native Los Angelino, Michael began producing following his attendance at University of Arizona in the Media Arts Department. His first feature film was produced in Tucson, Arizona, prior to returning to Los Angeles. In addition to producing the first American Gay Sequel and Trilogy (EATING OUT 1, 2 and 3) which had a national theatrical run and aired on LOGO and the HERE channel, Michael was responsible for the acquisition and distribution of the first gay themed Japanese Anime title released in North America, KIZUNA. Through his company, Ariztical Entertainment, he has distributed over a million individual independent video and DVD units in major national retail and independent stores including BREAKING THE SURFACE: THE GREG LOUGANIS STORY, starring Mario Lopez and DAME EDNA’S NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH. Michael has been a leading force in bringing independent film to audiences worldwide for over 25 years.

Decades prior to California’s Proposition 8, Michael was inspired by the March on Washington where he was arrested for civil disobedience, blocking the Supreme Court in protest of the Bowers vs. Hardwick decision, a decision that allowed states to arrest people for their expression of affection in the privacy of their own home. Michael considered it a good omen that the decision was reversed years later during the filming of the first EATING OUT. Currently Michael carry’s that inspiration belief and passion into the development, production and promotion of many genres of independent film.
